On this week of "What's Inside the Box?" presented by Runner's High, we had the opportunity to sit down with one of the United States top middle distance runners - Eric Holt of the Empire Elite Track Club. Not only is Eric is one of the country’s top middle distance runners, with PRs of 3:52 for the mile and 1:46 for the 800, but he is one of the most genuine and engaging individuals in our sport. He has become a cult favorite on the track - with his HoltaMania and Holt the Bolt monikers.
Eric has an inspiring story. His commitment to the sport of track and field and to the mile distance is unwavering. He has a worker’s man mentality like few you come across. While showing glimpses of promise during his time at SUNY Binghamton, he didn’t come out of high school or college as one of the most sought after athletes. As you’ll hear in this interview, Eric has just continuously chipped away at training and racing, ultimately grinding his way to the top of the sport.
We had an absolute blast sitting down and chatting with Eric as he has his eyes set on making an olympic team this summer in Paris.
Enjoy.
